The Art Of The Wild Gala

June 18 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Art of the Wild is an Art Gala displaying the art of not only local artists who create animal masterpieces, but, the art that’s a part of healing animals from abuse and neglect. Some of our residents participate in a unique form of enrichment: painting.

Using animal-safe materials, they interact freely with color and texture—no instruction, no expectation. The process supports cognitive engagement and autonomy.

These paintings are one of a kind. Some in a series. Prints and originals will be sold at the gala.

Also at the gala will be local artists. One of which will be doing a live demonstration of art in action. As a Veteran of our Armed Forces, he has found art as a form of therapy after being a bomb technician and experiencing all that that entails. He uses different mediums to express his creative side. Our most favorites are when he learns the personality of an animal and puts them in human form. Come watch as he creates this art right in front of your eyes!

On President’s Day in 2012 Kati was deployed to help rescue a bear from a 20 foot diameter corn crib in small town OH.  Known as the ‘Ripley Bear’ people, and organizations, tried to help gain Mamie and Syd their freedom.  Unfortunately, Syd died before getting to experience a natural habitat but Mamie was about to.  She had been declawed and defanged but that didn’t stop her from crushing her owner’s hand with her jaw power.  He reached out for placement.  Since her rescue Kati has promised captive bears a better life.  BEARS Etc., a Bear & Exotic Animal Rescue Sanctuary, was formed and they are fundraising to purchase a property to build the nation’s first bear focused sanctuary for bears, and other exotic animals, living as a part of the exotic pet trade.
